Beard Styles

What are the best beard styles for men? Fantastic facial hair

A beard isn’t just a beard. It’s a statement.

Let’s face it guys; we don’t exactly have many ways to make ourselves stand out from the crowd.

Unless you’ve got some serious confidence, you probably don’t want to experiment with makeup, and there’s only so much you can do with your clothes and hair. However, a beard gives you that little something extra.

Used correctly, a beard can convey an air of mystery, or give you a level of sophistication that you couldn’t get with just a good cologne.

The question is – how do you choose the best beard styles for your face?

Today, we’re going to be looking at some of the most versatile and appealing beard styles available for guys who want to go beyond the 5 o’clock shadow. The classic

1.  The classic

Classic beards are neither too long, nor too short.

Designed to give you plenty of winter warmth, as well as making a bold fashion statement, the classic beard is perfect for those committed to their facial hair.

As with many beard styles for men, the classic beard works best when you maintain it properly

Since a classic beard is pretty full, you’re going to need to make sure that you can tame it if you want to ensure that you don’t look like a homeless person or someone who has been stuck on a desert island for the last few years.

We’d recommend pairing the classic beard with a youthful, short haircut. That will help you to look fresh and well-groomed while maintaining the full appeal of the traditional beard look.

A side part with plenty of strong-hold pomade will offer an excellent vintage look.

2.  The full beard

The full beard takes the classic to the next level.

If you want the world to see how good you are at achieving different facial hairstyles, then the full beard is a good choice. However, you need to approach this style with caution.

Unlike shorter beards, which can often be combed into a shape in a couple of minutes, a long, full beard will take a lot of maintenance. Just a little bit of frizz, and you could look like someone who was rejected from the Harry Potter cast list.

Use plenty of beard oil on full beard styles to create the shape that’s right for complementing your face. Additionally, make sure that you stick with modern and youthful hair to accompany this type of beards.

That will help you to avoid an aged aesthetic.

3.  The biker beard

If you’re looking into long beard styles to really make a statement, then a biker beard is an excellent choice. With its origins in the Harley Davidson subculture, a biker beard is a dramatic way to really change things up and show off your rocker lifestyle.

Keep in mind that like other long beard styles, this one can be tough to maintain, and it requires a lot of hard work. Additionally, there’s also a chance that your HR office will approach you and ask you to choose something a little different.

Biker beards require extra hair length in the chin area, so you’re going to need to shape your facial hair accordingly. A good set of clippers or a reliable trimmer will help here.

4.  The stubble

It might be a pretty low-maintenance option when it comes to the best beard styles, but stubble still counts. The key to success is making sure you can walk the line between short beard styles and looking as though you just forgot to shave one day.

A good stubble-focused beard is brilliantly manicured, with plenty of contouring around the cheeks to show everyone that you intended to look like this.

You’ll need to concentrate on getting the combo of hair and beard styles right here. Additionally, it might be worth combining your stubble with a statement mustache – like a handlebar, or something thicker and more eye-catching to grab attention.

5.  The short beard

Short beard styles are excellent for those who don’t want to look too lumberjack-esque, but still want to maintain their commitment to their beards.

With a short beard, you can stay cool in the summer sun, and you’ve got a wide range of different beard styles to choose when your boss tells you that you need to keep your facial hair neat.

Like stubble-focused beard styles, the key to success with a short beard is making sure that you keep it well-manicured and groomed. You’ll need to keep the hair on your cheeks and neck trimmed short and make sure that you comb your beard every morning.

Regular maintenance will also help to ensure that your beard looks polished and pristine – rather than patchy and weird.

A corporate beard is a good example of short beard styles that work for most people. Corporate beards are full, but well-trimmed and maintained.

6.  The mustache-heavy beard

Some guys prefer to stick with beards that are less cheek and chin focused and more about the mustache. A mustache and beard combo can be an excellent way to grab attention, if you know how to pull it off.

When it comes to this kind of facial hairstyle, you’re going to need to focus on keeping your beard short, and your moustache long. That usually means either choosing a stubble style for your beard, or a goatee, which you can combine with your mustache.

The goatee is usually the most popular choice in this case. It’s one of the most compelling beard choices of the 90s, and it’s still going strong today, thanks to icons like Robert Downey Jr.

With a goatee, make sure that you keep the hair tight and well-groomed. It’s all about the shape that you can achieve here. A Van Dyke beard, which combines a beautiful mustache with a slightly longer scruff on your chin could be a great choice too.

Choosing the best beard styles for your face

Here’s the trouble with choosing from the different beard styles mentioned above.

Just because you like the idea of a certain beard, doesn’t mean that it’s going to suit you.

Whether or not you can pull off a beard will depend on a number of things, including how much time you can afford to dedicate to maintaining your facial hairstyles, and the shape of your face.

Beards aren’t a one-size-fits-all feature.

With that in mind, here’s some guidance to help you choose the best beard styles.

  • For a round face: If you want facial hairstyles to look good on a round face, then you need to keep the beard well-trimmed.
    • Shortened hair on the sides will stop your face from seeming chubby.
    • Long beard styles are also helpful for giving you the appearance of a longer and leaner face – if that’s what you’re looking for.
  • For a square face: Some men have a Clark Kent jawline – and it’s often a good idea to show that off.
    • If you have a square face, you’re better off going for a shorter beard, or some stubble, to highlight your chiseled jaw.
    • If you think that your jawline is too sharp and needs softening, then you can let the facial hair grow a little. A Goatee is often an excellent choice for a good square face.
  • For a triangle face: If you’ve got more of a triangular face shape, then you’ll need to focus on a wider hairline at the very point of your chin, which natural long beard styles can easily provide. You’ll also need to avoid hair on your cheeks, which might emphasize your wider jawline.
  • For an oval face: If you have an oval face, then the best beard styles for you could be just about anything. Oval faces offer the perfect middle ground between all different shapes of face. That means that you should have an easy enough time finding a style that really works for you. A corporate-style beard that keeps things neat is a good choice.
  • For a diamond face: If you have a diamond shaped face or something that has a lot of cheek space and not a lot of chin and forehead space, then you’re going to need to look into beard styles for men that make your face appear fuller. Options like the Van Dyke beard could be a great choice.
